best sleep ever
I had the best sleep ever. I woke up unexpectedly to the wonderful sound of silence. No wonder I slept so well. It was great. I didn't want to get out of bed.

bad day :(
I finally did it. My first all nighter. Trust me this time. It was not my fault. I registered for this class late last week and I got the homework sunday night. It was a program which normally takes 7-14 days to complete......and I only had 4-5. I did the best I could, but it didn't matter. My program was a mess......fuck it was a disaster. I turned it in knowing it did not complile (even though it did for a couple of moments). I don't know where I went wrong. Fuck. At least I have time with program 2. I'm gonna work my ass off.

I would not picture this movie to be the best picture oscar winner, but it is still one of the best movies of 2004/2005. I couldn't stop laughing at certain points of the movie. Oh man, this movie is a treat. I suggest that you watch this movie because you are going to have a good time.

whats up
I'm now back at school. It's a bit depressing since I'm not a bum anymore. Oh well. Classes have been going well. I'm taking this intro to cognitive science class which is very, very interesting. The class is all about how the brain works in relation to the thought processes and how it still cannot be explained how things are.
I watched a couple of movies today: The Aviator and Blade Trinity. It's a good thing I watched the Aviator first because watching Blade Trinity was just horrible. The Aviator is a great movie showcasing the prime years of Howard Hughes. It's sad that he couldn't control his disorder even though he wanted to. Hope this film wins at least one Oscar.
Blade Trinity is another story folks. It doesn't half the dark feel of the first nor the fast paced action of the second. It literally takes a shit on both those films and tries to make it on its own. The fight sequences are laughable since they seem to have no cheoreography at all. The intro of Blade wasn't handled so well unlike the first two films. It was pretty much the same without adding anything exciting. Even the last battle between him and Dracula was boring. Triple H's death wasn't more than a rehash of a death in the movie The Rock. At a certain point in the film, they tried to include a bit of comedy such as the "No, I'm a lawyer" line from Blade II. Sadly, it fails to make me laugh. The action, the story, everything falls flat in this movie. It's disturbing to find out in that people get hyped up in the first two films, just to feel bored in the third movie.
I've been playing the Punisher for the past couple of days. Very entertaining game. The only thing I don't like about this game are the boss battles. It seemed like they weren't planned very well. Other than that minor flaw, I loved the mindless action and the interrogation scenes. This game at least deserves a rental.

you have got to be kidding me
I recently watched Feng Shui starring Kris Aquino (or however you spell it). I finally applaud the Philippines for making a technically sound film. It looks like they finally used up to date cameras. What kills the movie technically is that it is full screen and that the movie looks like video instead of film (wrong fps I guess).
Here comes the worst parts. Feng Shui is labeled as a horror movie, yet it puzzles me because I was laughing throughout the entire film. If I was to make a horror movie (hmmm....maybe I will), I would make the scares subtle without booming sounds or horrendously placed scare shots. What was funny about one of the scenes is that it seems like they ripped it from Ring where the face is all messed up minus the really awesome makeup effects. The twist at the end couldn't be any more predictable. They probably thought it would be a cool twist, but it has a "been there, done that" feel. It didn't make any sense because she did what she was told yet it didn't work.
The premise of the movie is a bit original where you have spirits invading your house because of this one item that sucked them into this dimension. What makes me wonder about this plot is how off track it gets towards the middle of the movie. The movie begins as a horror movie but in the middle, it becomes a drama about marriage problems. Then, at the very end, it goes back to the horror aspect. Weird, if you ask me. I was confused when the husband goes to the ex-girlfriend. They were planning to get the children and go off somewhere.......why?....she is not their mother....what the hell does this have to do with the movie in the first place?
I loved one scene though. It's the scene where the ex-girlfriend gets fucking BLOWN away by her husband. Absolutely terrific. I clapped for several seconds and pleaded for an encore.
It was a good try Philippines. But not good enough. They still need to learn HOW to make a film, both technically and story wise. I have to admit that they are finally advancing. It would be nice to see an actual widescreen movie where the cinematographer would utilize the aspect ratio.
---------------
I have been watching the ultimate Matrix boxset. The documentaries are great to watch since you get to see how they developed most of the shots in this film. The only downside is that it feels like I was left shorthanded or unfinished. The documentaries ranged from 5-30 minutes long. Some of them weren't interesting because it felt like they were just placed there for the heck of it.
One documentary I enjoyed watching was the making of the Burly Brawl. They had this clip where they had a CG sequence of Neo kicking major ass. Very entertaining to watch because it was at a faster pace and you could feel the hits. Too bad the final version wasn't as fast paced as that pre-production movie. It was cool to hear what the people had to say about the making of any CG sequence. I still think they could have done a better job of how the people animate. They talked about how they cleaned up the animation. I think that cleaning up most of the animation from mo-cap resulted in making it look artificial, rather than have the random, chaotic motion of actual human movement. The cloth and smoke effects are clearly not up to realistic levels, but take a couple of years and they could perfect it.
Well later ev'rybody.

silent hill 4
I finally got the courage to finish Silent Hill 4. I was so close to death but there were health packs that saved me. My heart was pounding during the final sequene. I had to kill William before Eileen gets crushed by this huge revolving spike. What I didn't know is that Eileen's speed depends on how damaged before that part in the game. I thought I was fucked at first because she got hurt badly. In the first try, I got the second to the worse ending in the game because she was killed. Several times later, I got the best ending which is lame of course.
I still feel that the first Silent Hill was the best one as it scared the shit out of me with those dead babies with knives or when that nurse went to the dark side. Sure the graphics in the ps2 versions are much better but they sacrified much of what made the first one a bit special...the seriously demented atmosphere. Silent Hill 3, while a great game, didn't scare me at all because the enemies were so slow and easy to beat. It did have a freaky story. Silent Hill 4, on the other hand, is the worst of the bunch. While it was a good game, much of the new gameplay additions weren't handled so well especially when Eileen tags along and that horrendous inventory system. The story was much better than 3 in that it wasn't shocking in the wtf sense, but goddamn, it was weird. The addition of spirits is the highlight in this game......most of them freak me out especially one that looks like the Ringu apparition.
What truly killed the game for me is the voice acting of the main character. The actor seemed so bored saying his lines. There is barely any emotion in his lines. Part 3 has exceptional voice acting which makes me wonder what happened in this one.
Here are some hints. NEVER use the revolver until the boss sequence. This will come handy at the end. Once you get the axe, use it and nothing else. The pistol can be used but only during the last couple of stages. Here is a small trick. Charge up the attack meter and unleash it before the enemy attacks. You won't get hit at all and the opponent gets the shit knocked out of them. This is useful throughout the entire game. It's what saved my sorry ass when I complained of no health items. As my friend stated in a comment, save your health items during the first half of the game. The room will no longer replenish your health during the second half. I learned this the hard way.
Btw, Jorge, I had to use my health items that I stashed away and wasted them because that William fellow couldn't stop shooting me in the forest stage. I didn't know that you could not kill him. So, folks who haven't played yet, just run when you see him. Don't bother trying to shoot him. Just run. I tried to fight him, but it is just a waste of time and health items. There will be health items right before the final battle so don't worry if you waste them before the apartment redux stage.
Gotta go. Final Fantasy X-2 is next on my list. I fucking hate this girly shit.

the da vinci code
Instead of playing videogames all night. I decided to read a couple more chapters of the number one best selling book of 2004, The Da Vinci Code. Instead of reading several chapters, I finished the book. It is the page turner as most people say and fuck it is good. The plot gets better after every page turn. It's like watching an episode of 24. You want to know what is going to happen next, but at the same time thinking should I continue? I read over 300 pages last night more than the 100 pages I allocated to myself. This book is so good. Everybody should read it. What makes it even better is that it translates to a movie perfectly. As I was reading, I was thinking how it would appear on the big screen. Jean Reno would be perfect as the tough dectective Fache'. Absolutely perfect.
Another thing I liked about this book is that it is a mind fuck of a story. Most of the things said are unbelievable and could be true. It's just hard to read the first time because I was in awe. I'm trying to check if most of the things are true.
Gotta go. Remember read the Da Vinci Code.

impatient
I decided to hold off playing Silent Hill 4 or planning to restart the game. I barely have any health left and I didn't conserve my health items because I thought I would be recharged everytime I went back to the room........I was wrong. I think I'm going to play it on easy this time. Playing on normal the first time is really hard especially with this revamped inventory system which btw, is horribly implemented. I'll just finish Final Fantasy X-2 and Star Ocean: Till the End of Time for now.

more
Sorry for not updating much. I rarely use the internet since most of the sites I go to don't update. Here's the breakdown:
-I beat Call of Duty: Finest Hour...awesome game, very intense gameplay
-Tried to finish Prince of Persia: Warrior Within....final battle wouldn't load
-I beat Jak 3....very entertaining game, I enjoyed every moment of it, even though I'm not the kind of gamer that finishes 100% of a game I still enjoyed the main missions/minigames. Gotta love those precursors.
I started to play Silent Hill 4. Man that game freaks me out. I only play for an hour or two at a time. Silent Hill 3 wasn't as scary as this. I like the new gameplay changes in this game. There is a hole in certain spots that transport you back to the "room". In this room, you can save your game. Very different from save points scattered in the levels. In this same room, your health recharges. I don't know if there are any health packs available, but I hope there are because some of these enemies suck your health even though you don't touch them.
Other than games, I watched Finding Neverland. Very good movie. The only thing disappointing is that it was fairly short. I guess it was due to people's short attention spans. My brother and I also bought the Ulitimate Matrix Set. The transfer on the Matrix is unbelievable. It looks like it was made months ago.
Gotta go....oh yeah...have a happy new year.
