My new computer is complete.
I returned the very nice Thermaltake PSU back and got a single rail Corsair PSU. It has the amps I needed. Plus, it saved me some money. The only con is that it's not modular. I hate having cables I don't need.
It works like a charm too. For some reason, my video card was overheating due to improper power input. Now, I can run it at stock speeds and it runs pretty cool.
So yeah, I can play again. Woooo!

in addition...
I forgot that I completely didn't talk about this. Before I built my new computer, I bought a netbook specifically just for web browsing since I didn't want to turn on my computer just to check my email.

It's surprisingly small. The resolution is fantastic, but the vertical scrolling takes a while to get used to as most webpages are header heavy. Some cons to this netbook are:
- Improper placement of the Right shift key. It should have been where the up arrow is.
- While it does have 160GB of HDD space, it's split into two partitions.
Other than that, it's been great. It's cheap, weighs very little, and gets the job done.
********
I was a bit displeased with my current computer case. It was adequate, but it didn't feel sufficient enough for the new videocard. So I drove out and bought this:

It's the Cosmos 1000. It's freaking huge. As you can see, it barely fits under the desk. I didn't realize how big it was until I installed it. You see, it didn't look that big at Fry's. It's amazing how silent my computer is now. I can barely hear it.
********
I am pissed at myself. I didn't check the requirements of the GTX 285 since I bought everything on a whim. The PSU I bought is not enough for the videocard. On the 12V rail, it needs a minimum of 40a. The PSU I bought was split into four rails dividing up the amperage. This is not cool. Just a lesson learned I guess. I'm going to try to return it even after I used it for a week. I don't care if I need to pay a restocking fee, I need a single rail version.

another swing and a miss
So another failed chance to go to the Philippines, lol. I could have gone during my last year in college, but I didn't. I had the means to go recently for my grandma's funeral (rest her soul), but I didn't. I would give up $1,600 to go, but dang, you have to think. $1,600 is A LOT of money. If I were to spend that much money on a trip, I better stay in that destination for at least a month. Two or three weeks isn't going to cut it.
So instead, I'm with my dad again. For a while and for the upcoming week, I was with my dad/mom's friends, Tito Nick and Tita Cora. It was good, but it wasn't entirely depressing. But for a week, I'm with my dad, and it gets pretty boring without Daniel bothering me about how much I play video games and/or slowing taking a nap on my bed. To stave off boredom, I purchased a couple things:
- a crapload of games
- season 12 of South Park on Blu-ray
- new PC guts
I went a bit overboard with the computer specs. I was only supposed to buy a new power supply since the fan on my old was getting noisy. But since I got my refund back (the most money I have ever had in my life), I had to splurge. It's money that was already taxed by the government, and it was just held by them.
So yeah, no more spending for me, lol. I'm officially done with buying stuff for a long while.

The PS3 firmware was updated. What's good now? They updated the divx support. Now probably everything will work now. Ong Bak 2 didn't work before, but now it does. Hooray.
