weekend recap

Here's a recap of what happened over the weekend:

- I watched Saw 2. Great movie. Just as good as the first.
- I watched Doom. I kind of enjoyed this one. Not as stupid as Resident Evil and has some pretty sweet action scenes.
- Played Killzone online with some GAP members.
- Played a bit of Jak X on single player
- Finished the Warriors.......lol....."Warriors, come out and playyyyyy" clank clank clank
- Finished The Suffering: Ties that Bind. Just as enjoyable as the first. A bit easy though, just use strategy.
- Finished Total Overdose: A Gunslinger's Tale in Mexico. Game that totally sucks.
- Completed Blitz: The League's single player campaign. I won the division 1 series by one freaking point.

So yeah, it was a good weekend. Now its time to stop playing and start focusing on school.

an orgasm of games

-Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
-Ratchet: Deadlocked
-Resident Evil 4
-Soul Calibur 3

OMG. When will this influx of games end? Why can't these games get released in the summer when there was a drought?

absolutely fucking fantastic

It was a fairly good weekend. I finally saw my room designed by no other than my cousin Felice. She did a fantastic job with the paint and design of the room. I just love the shelves and the desk she put in. I can finally put my laptop on a desk rather than on top of the metal shelves. I still have to throw some junk away, but other than that, it looks fabulous.

I finally played Shadow of the Colossus and its as good as everyone says. It's just so damn impressive in both gameplay and style.

We went to J. Alexanders steakhouse Sunday to celebrate my aunt's 60th birthday. My dad and her were complaining that the prime rib was too salty, but when she gave me a piece.......omg, I was in heaven. It was so fucking good. Salty? Yes, but it was so delicious.

only this one time

Okay, I shouldn't have done it, but I just had to. The substitute teacher is boring and she said, "Everything here is from the book." So screw that, I'm going to sleep. My ITK375 teacher? Bores the shit out of me. I doze off most of the time. So screw that, I'm going to sleep. As for ITK261, I'm still going. No point in skipping that class.

By doing this, I got an extra two hours of sleep. But of course, I can't do this anymore. So, its a bit of a tradeoff.

sensory overload

OMG......Shadow of the Colossus, Socom III, The Warriors, Blitz: The League, Jak X Combat Racing. Jesus.

And of course, I'm procrastinating again. Goddammit. Why the hell do I even bother? I'll get it done hours before its due. Thank god I only have two classes tomorrow.

heil hitler!!!

No, I'm no Nazi, but I get to watch the remarkable Downfall on DVD. A spectacular movie based on the words of a secretary during the fall of Hitler. There were amazing performances throughout the entire movie from Hitler's generals, Traudl (One of Hitler's secretaries), to Hitler himself. There were loads of touching moments. For example, Eva Braun and Traudl are talking about Hitler. Traudl says that Hitler can be a caring guy, but he changes to a different person. Eva responds, "Only when he's Fuerer right?" You can see in the people's faces what they think of him. Some of them respect him, some of them betray him. You can sense Hitler's vulnerability change throughout the film. Sometimes, he thinks the war is over, then minutes later he would try to arrange his troops to win back Berlin, and so on. Overall, outstanding movie. I wish I could have seen this in the theatres.

As a side note, that actress that plays Traudl......wow.

This makes me think about this world's past. Everybody has a dream. Hitler had a dream to spread his notion of a perfect world. It's too bad his dream put millions of people to death. Look at us now. It's the SAME GODDAMN THING. We have Bush trying to spread democracy throughout the world by eliminting threats towards this ideology. What is so different about democracy that makes it better than anything else? While I do support the notion of "power to the people", is democracy really like that? Do the people have power? I think its crazy, but I don't think so. We leave the decisions to high ranking officials instead of the people that create this nation. Sure we hold elections to choose the best people to represent us, but that should not mean that we should be left out of decision making. I don't know how we can support this ideology when we have been lied to numerous times? Remember that whole "Weapons of Mass Destruction" fiasco? It was a huge lie to bring us to war. And for what? To make profit for the government by putting more money in to the military. It's all profit these days. Let's see who can make the most money. It's all bullshit now. We have politicians participating in scandals, and yet we still elect them. It's absurd. Another thing wrong with this country is the amount of power we have over others. Why can we have nuclear weapons, but not other countries? If we can have nuclear missles, other countries should have them too? Shouldn't it be fair? When our government sees a threat, it gets destroyed. And you know why? Because we are scared that it might escalate to something bigger than it is currently.

But I guess it's human instinct. To kill what might kill us.

too busy

Yeah, I've been busy so I wasn't able to blog that much. I got some new games, but I'm a bit disappointed that they do not work on the hard drive. I really do not want to burn out the laser. I finally got a chance to play the demo for Resident Evil 4. It's pretty cool stuff. The only disappointing in this game is the controls. It still controls like a tank. And the aiming sucks, but I'm sure it is because I'm not used to it.

And just to make sure, Happy Birthday Pam!

wallace and gromit: the curse of the were-rabbit

I absolutely LOVED this movie. The jokes were funny (there was even some adult themed ones) and the characters were a blast. And the bunnies. Gotta love those bunnies. But, of course, I love bunnies. It's my favorite animal.

And Roeper gave this a thumbs down. Boo. I think his critique on certain films is just absolutely wrong. Sometimes he does it right, but most of the time, his critique only applies to the movie-goer's movie. His critique is "whether or not its worth paying for" instead of just recommending the movie itself regardless of money.

Turn it on bloggers. Saves you from retarded comments.

trying it out

I decided to drop the title of the journal and just left the image. Looks pretty sweet in my opinion. Don't worry. I won't leave that picture up. It is just for testing purposes.

For some odd reason, I played videogames from 12am to 6am. And its just playing that recent Hulk game. It's just so hard to not play during the week that it just bursts into a huge gaming session. I played Killzone online with GAP, but didn't play for long because I wanted to beat Hulk badly. I woke up around 12pm thinking, "Shit. That was stupid."

lost episode three and some other crap

Wow, what an episode. Can this show get any better? I bet it can. Why is it only one hour? Why can't it be all day? This show is the only show that I can't wait for on DVD. I need to see it. Next week is going to be awesome.

So yeah, other crap. I'm bored to hell during the week. Just homework and internet. Homework and internet. I'm thinking of stopping internet since it takes up so much of my damn time. But I love it so much. Communicating with people back and forth. It makes me feel like I'm a part of something. Eh, maybe its the only excuse of why I don't have a lot of friends. Damn, how sweet it would be to have a girlfriend: one who loves my gray hair, my video game habits, my foreign films, my anime......its only a dream. Nobody like that exists.

Video games are starting to bore me. They can't love me back. But I can't stop playing them. They are my world.

As you can read (if you've read this far), I'm bored. I tried reading my accounting textbook, but my head started to sleep. My brother and mother have been teasing me on what my room looks like. Goddammit the two of you post some pics........the anticipation is killing me. It makes me want to go home right now. I cannot however because its way too expensive. If only I can drive......omg that's another situation.

Bottomline is my life isn't turning out the way I wanted it to.

movies and time

Time flies by when you watching movies especially fun ones.

  • Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist
  • The Brothers Grimm
  • Land of the Dead Unrated
  • A History of Violence

Dominion. You really know that they didn't work on this film that much due to the horrible CG, but its substantially better than the remade version. There are less frantic shots and awkward story points. It still has the same plot, same location, and most of the same actors. The remade version just wanted to resemble the original. This version tries to attack the story from a different angle. Rather than evil in just possession, it makes it clear that evil is within us. The actual possession made me laugh quite a bit since the possessee looked like the demon anyway. And of course the horrible CG shots of red eyes and hyenas.

The Brothers Grimm. Well its a fun film. Let us just leave it at that. I think so many people were turned off by this film because I guess it was too dark for the entire family. I enjoyed seeing the references of the gingerbread man, little red riding hood, and other fairy tales. Of course, they all came from Grimm's fairy tales (or something Grimm related). The only problem with this movie is how cliched the character development is. The nerdy brother finally stands up to his other, blah, blah, blah.

Land of the Dead. I've already watched this. The unrated edition is just a couple of minutes tacked on to make it more violent. Nothing more.

A History of Violence. This movie is just great. The violence was graphic, but not Versus-ridiculous-graphic. The characters are grounded in reality. At some points though, it makes me wonder what the hell are they doing (ex. the "just fuck me already" sex scene). William Hurt's character is the funniest because nothing goes right for him even when he tries to do something. I just wished I would have seen this in the theatres. This movie also shows that nerds do have power :).

Well that was my weekend. Coupled with Killzone, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and Darkwatch, it was a nice weekend.
