old blog

My old site apparently still exists. Thank my brother for bringing it up. I thought I deleted this blog, but it doesn't seem like it was erased from the servers. I was just a prick back then spending money like crazy and thinking everything was alright.....if only I had known that everything had a purpose, an effect, a goddamn result.

Enjoy my old site. I know I will.

just black and chaos

So, its been a while since I last posted. My dvd burner is still strong. The only thing odd with it now is that it doesn't recognize all the DVDs I put into it. For example, I put in Timesplitters: Future Perfect and it doesn't recognize the label. I put in Fahrenheit and it recognizes it. I put in Killzone and it can't even detect it. I recently put Shadow of the Colossus on a new disc and when I put it in the drive to check out the disc area, it doesn't recognize it. It's weird, but I guess I have to live with it......the main thing is that it works.

I've just been playing Black and Fight Night Round 3 lately. I can't stand Round 3 online. I have a 0-2 record mostly due to the horrible lag I experience. The game would freeze for a second then go back to being normal. Then sometimes it would take a second to recognize my commands making the online mode, using my school connection, unplayable. The game is a bit disappointing since it offers very new content and differences. As for Black, I think the game is amazing. It's getting mixed reviews, but screw critics. This game is just pure chaos. And this is why I love the game.

As for movies, I haven't had the time to watch anything new. I still have movies I haven't seen yet stashed away on my hard drive so they are there when I have nothing to do.

And lately for music, I'm just enjoying my newly acquired albums. Suikoden III, Shadow of the Colossus, ICO, Kingdom Hearts II (that Dearly Beloved track is just beautiful), and the third Stand Alone Complex album (it has the track I have been looking for). Great tracks in all of them.

So, read on next time. I'll probably blog in a day or two.

oh yeah

The DVD burner I just purchased is awesome. I've already burnt several DVDs and all of them worked flawlessly. Currently, since it runs through the usb 2.0 port, it maxes out at 6x. It doesn't matter since I burn at 4x anyway. Half of me didn't want to buy this since it does sound like a waste of money, but read this, the day the burner came, my laptop burner died. Quite a coincidence eh? Some things I didn't know is that the Fujifilm discs are actually RitekG03s. Pretty sweet since G05s don't play very well on the PS2. I tested the Taiyo Yuden's I bought and they play perfectly. No skips or jumps whatsoever. I've already re-burned Dirge of Cerberus and Fahrenheit. I tried to burn Jak X again so that I can finish the game, but it seems like the disc is messed up. I think most of the problems lies within the Ritek disc. If you burn movies with this type, they are perfect, but for gaming, its clearly not.

Another cool thing about today is that I know I can fix stuff, it seems cool in my ordinary day. I was lazy to remove stuff off my bed while I was under the covers even though my conscience was telling me that I should put the stuff on the chair. Because of my laziness, I knocked the CD player off the bed and unto the ground shattering a couple pieces off. Most notably was the cover lock. Without that, the player would be useless. And because of my instinct, I fixed the thing. It took a while since I couldn't get the HOLD button to stay still, but it is now working like nothing ever happened.

I also beat Ape Escape 3. If I had time, I would go back and capture all 400, but since I have the awesome Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams to beat, I had to just leave it at that. Ape Escape 3 is a prime example of a game where it doesn't lose it's roots in that games don't need to be difficult in order the player to have a sense of achievement when they beat the game. It requires replay value which this game has loads of. I can't wait for Fight Night Round 3 and Black to come out. They are some of the best games to be released this year. I just love the Fight Night series because of the damage you can do to your opponent. My strategy is to attack their face as much as I can, then to the body to weaken them, then to the face again. By then, their face will be cut and victory will be mine. And Black, well, that game will just rock, period.

Election. This movie is quite good. It's about an election to become the chairman of a triad gang. Power struggles, bribery, loyalty, tradition.....a movie about what a person can do with a)money or b)power. The movie also rides on how a person never forgets what one person says or does. Whatever you do will impact something later in life. And in this case, it brought one of the members to his demise. Great movie.

It came to my attention that most of my posts are quite depressing. From now on, there will be no such posts. So be happy.

screw it

As you can read from the title, I probably did something stupid, but hey its me. I recently bought a dvd burner. There will be good times ahead.

finally

I finally beat Fatal Frame and Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood. One was pretty good and the other, like I said before, was painfully boring. Now I can move on to other games like Ape Escape 3 and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. I finally got a chance to put both DVDs for 24 into one iso file and it works perfectly. Killing with Jack Bauer is just so awesome.

As for movies, I didn't watch much. Just the horrible Hide and Seek. What I hate about this movie is how it is tricks the viewer of what is happening until the twist. So fucking retarded.

thoughts

24: The Game is actually a pretty fun game. It's hard to find the game difficult as I just blew through the missions. Since it is only a beta of the game, it might be changed for the final version. The one thing I dislike about the game are the driving sequences. It is just like Enter the Matrix where you have developers that do not know how to make driving sequences. I wish they would be like Everything or Nothing and chose another developer to make the driving parts. It would be amazing to see Criterion do it. What is painful about those parts is that there is no sense of speed and there is loads of rubberband gameplay. Oh well, hopefully they'll fix that for the final version. That would suck if it would stay as it is.

On other news, I've just been watching lots of shrimp, Lost, trying to finish games, and 24. I was shocked to find out that it was Charlie who dragged Sun around. I didn't get the chance to download it, so I missed the part right after he talked about Sun. Oh well.

reporting

Nothing new to report here. Just another day. I'm currently on the verge of getting 24: The Game, Tales of Legendia, Bullet in the Head Fortune Star version, and Police Story HKL version. Hopefully Fight Night Round 3 and Black will be added to that list in a couple of weeks.

Well, there is something to report. It's been depressing here. Everywhere I look I see couples holding hands, making out, or cuddling. I wish I had that. One time I told myself, "I wonder why its so nice to make out.....does the girl's mouth taste good?" Or is it the sensation of touching the tongue that makes it so freaking awesome? This will probably be one of the things I'll never experience.

Eh, maybe in 20 years. Well, there is all this talk of remastering DVDs that I decided to do my own. Here is a screencap for Battle Royale 2. Can you believe this was just a contrast fix?

the weather man

I finally got to watch this delightful, yet depressing, movie about the life of a weatherman (Nicolas Cage) who cannot seem to get things right. He thinks he is supporting his children, but he is doing the opposite. He wants to save his dead marriage, but the problem lies with himself. One of the funny things about the character is that he is obsessed with sex. I had to pause the movie and calm myself because I couldn't stop laughing when his wife (Hope Davis) read his secret. His life seems to balance itself out when he gets to audition to Hello America, a morning news program. At one point, he doesn't know what he wants to accomplish. Does he want to save the things from the past or does he want to pursue his future and leave the past behind him?

It's a great movie where the point is even as a adult, you can still learn new things about adulthood and how to cope with life when times are rough.

yeah...

My lack of posts is due to a personal matter which I won't say here. It is much too private to say. The result is that I regret what I have done and wished that it never happened. But as life went on, the truth had to come out. And it had to land on 24 which was freaking intense btw. I hope my family can get through this ordeal that I have created....a new burden or rather extending one.

On other business, I downloaded around 800 MP3s last night and all of them movie soundtracks. Freaking awesome I tell you. I can now enjoy myself in hours and hours of movie music from King Kong to Robocop.

I'll update this journal again soon.
