Well, I finally got the chance to see Juno. What a fantastic movie. It's certainly one of the top films this year. Ellen Page does a remarkable job playing Juno. All the jokes didn't seem like they were written on the page; they were fresh and natural. Hell, all of the characters are hilarious: the stepmom, the dad, the friend, etc. They all had their part to play and it was just a great experience just watching them unravel in the story.
******
I didn't get to watch Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem, but I will eventually I guess. It's worth seeing a popcorn flick once in a while even it sucks major shit. Or maybe I'll watch Hitman. Hmmmm, I don't know.
After the movie, I headed to Best Buy to buy The Witcher, an RPG for the PC, and Superbad for Blu-Ray since I got a gift-card for Christmas. I got the last copy of Superbad for $19.99 but didn't get The Witcher since it was sold out (goddamit). So, I just went online and just bought it there with the remainder of the gift-card plus my reward points. The game should be arriving within the next two weeks so I shouldn't worry about that. I have other games to play anyway. I just wanted to buy The Witcher now since it was on sale for $39.99. I also wanted to purchase another Wii game for the family because I'm thinking people are getting bored with the three games I have: Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Mario Galaxy (which they don't play, only me). But the game, Smartypants, was on sale for $19.99, but was goddamn sold out.
However, it is amazing though. During Christmas and yesterday, we were playing the Wii for hours and hours. I barely touch the thing outside of Mario Galaxy and here comes Christmas and the system gets used a lot. What is cool about it is that everybody seems to having a great time which you rarely see around our house. My mom is howling with laughter, Tito Sonny bowls too goddamn slow (which made all of laugh like crazy), my dad is still giving out pointers (but doesn't play because I think he is too scarred to play)......like I said, everybody is having a great time. This could be the reason why the Wii is so hard to find. Everybody wants to have a great time at home, lol.
*****
I also bought God of War: Prince of Peace since I wanted to support The Movie Blog. So, I'll pass judgement on that documentary when it arrives. I also purchased Aquaria which was awarded best independent game of this year. The guys at the 1up Show and 1up Yours were raving about it so I decided to get it. And so far, it's freaking awesome. It's 2D so you don't have to mess with the camera and feels very Zelda/Metroid like. It's very cool that you have these powers that correlate to music patterns you do with the mouse. The game is very well made and I suggest you check out the demo. If you like what you see, be sure to buy it and help out the independent gaming community.

in the land of women, once, & national treasure: book of secrets
In The Land of Women
Pretty good movie. Of course, the only reason I watched it was because of Kristen Stewart. I think she is absolutely beautiful, but goddamit, fuck that shit when her character falls for some lame douchebag.
The story revolves around some guy who is some sort of emotional sponge for all the women in his life. Every guy would wish he would be this guy because you can get a lot of sex when women want to cry on your shoulder.
But the movie drops because of Meg Ryan. Not because of the character, but holy shit, did she fuck up her face. She used to be the cute actress of the 90s, but WTF. She totally butchered her face beginning with the movie In The Cut. It is apparent now what she did to her face.......as in totally fucked up shit.
In summary, it was a good watch. It's 90% chick flick so you'll be able to get some action with your girlfriend soon afterwards.
Once
100% chick flick and 100% sure you'll be able to bang your girlfriend or if you are a girl, boyfriend, after watching this. It's about two lower class people who love music. The basic story is a street musician meets with a girl who sells roses on the street. The girl likes his music and starts to band up with him. The guy is heartbroken from a previous relationship and the girl is having troubles with her husband from another country. You can tell that the guy really impatiently wants to pounce her, but she declines him very softly every time he tries to advance. It's as if the girl wants to date him but she feels obligated to her husband situation at the same time. The dynamic between the two is fantastic as they soon forget their troubles as soon as they start to create beautiful music. Hell, I wish I was listening to the soundtrack right now.
The camerawork is quite amazing, and I wish they had a bigger budget because some shots would have fared better if they had the equipment to support the shot (especially the last shot where it is moving back from the window).
I definitely recommend this.
National Treasure: Book of Secrets
I'm pretty sure I was distracted throughout this entire film because I wanted to piss so badly FROM THE VERY FIRST MINUTE. Yes people, I held my piss for the entire duration of the movie. It was goddamn grueling, and I did not want to miss one minute. But shit, I could have gone during this animated Disney short of HDTVs. But I didn't because I didn't want to go up and disturb people as I run frantically towards the washroom.
Anyways, this movie is a good popcorn flick. It's very forgettable, but holy shit at the Troy actress. Fucking AAA++ hotness. Her accent came through during her first scene which was weird because it never happened again.
What I didn't understand was Ed Harris's use of violence. He could have just asked if he could help them find whatever they were trying to find (don't want to say since it would be a major spoiler). Instead, we get this unneeded car chase in London where Ed Harris and his cohorts are trying to kill Nicholas Cage and crew. Why the fuck are you trying to kill the people who are solving the puzzle? It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Good movie. Watch and enjoy it.
I'll be watching Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem later this week. I want to watch Juno, but I have no fucking idea how to go to Yorktown theatres. I'm still a fucking newbie at directions. lol.
EDIT: Goddammit. Juno is now at Marcus Theatres. It fucking took them long enough. Jeez. This weekend is going to be awesome. AVP and Juno. Oh fuck yeah.

bi-yearly update
As you probably know, my brother is basking in the Philippine sun. And I'm jealous. Of course, I did have the choice of saving up the money and bought myself a ticket. Hell, if I added it up correctly, I should have several thousand by now, but I don't. I already stopped it with the expenses especially with buying new video games. I already finished my second playthrough with Mass Effect and I expect 3-4 more playthroughs. Yeah, enough with the video game talk. I know it bores you. Summary: I spend too much on video games. I could have gone to the Philippines, but I don't deserve it since I'm a total failure. It is a bit embarassing to go there four years later to tell them that I did not graduate nor did I get a awesome well paying job. What can I tell my cousins? "Yeah, I'm a goddamn bum now." No thank you. I can't even begin to think what they'll say.
To ease the pain of Daniel's vacation (yeah fucking right, lol, like I'm hurting), several things happened as soon as he left. It's video games again, but it is movie related. PS3 firmware 2.10 was released. This is what 2.0 should have been. Blu-Ray's profile has been updated to 1.1 and you can now watch Divx/WMV files on the PS3. Yeah, it's pretty awesome watching low resolution porn upscaled to 1080p. I'm currently watching "Once" on my PSP through remote play from the PS3.
I even got Blade Runner on Blu-Ray. It was cool of Amazon to give me one-day shipping due to delivery problems on their end. My God, my god. That film looks so fucking good. It looks like a movie made today. I'm goddamn serious. They did a splendid job. I wish they increased the bitrate to minimize compression. I know VC-1 does a good job a low bitrates, but compression is still compression.
To top things off, I got my driver's license today. I was so fucking nervous. Before the driving test, I had to drive the minivan around to the back. I was supposed to go through the two stop signs and go around. But instead, I went through one and went under the telephone/power lines. I was so humiliated. The driving test itself was a piece of cake. Anyways, I won't have to do this anymore. And I registered to vote. I don't want some jackass in the White House for another four years. We need to get out of this war. Look at what is happening to America's economy. Going to war didn't solve our oil problems. Eh, that is an issue for another day.
Where the hell is the Sunshine soundtrack?

feeling like an ass
Well, I'm here sitting at an internet cafe after my second real life job interview. God, I feel so ridiculous. When the woman shook my hand, I said, "Thank You" instead of "Hello". Fucking stupid eh? I couldn't stop saying stupid answers and sometimes I could not find the right words to describe what I wanted to say. It's a 50% chance I'll get hired. The hours are weird, 3-11pm, but I guess it'll work. Maybe I should lay off video games for a while. I'm getting dumber every second I play.
