so close

I was this close in snagging one of those new PS3s. They're lighter, slimmer, less power hungry.....I really wanted it. But then I thought about it. My PS3 still works fine and has backwards compatibility to boot. I couldn't give up something that still works fantastically. Sure it doesn't have the new HDMI chip. Sure it's power hungry. It all comes to that it still works. Besides, having $299 for other things doesn't hurt.

I got Metroid Prime Trilogy and Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box to tide me over. This is my ice cream.

Another reason to get the new PS3

It supports bitstreaming of TruHD and DTS-MA audio signals. Sure it doesn't do much for me at this time, but I hate it when a better version of something I have comes out. I was thinking of getting one (like having it in my Amazon cart), but I remembered that I still have one more year with Best Buy with my current PS3. I couldn't let that go to waste.

Snowball Mic

Disappointing. I've read reviews that just gushed out at the seams for the product. I tested it and dang, it does not work as promised. There are three settings and only one works.

*sigh*

Goddamn you Logitech and your shitty PS2 mic. Why did you have to break down?

EDIT: Well, I'm a freaking idiot. It now works fantastically. It just needed to warm up.

I want it...

...too bad I already have one, but damn it is tempting.

finally

My new computer is complete.

I returned the very nice Thermaltake PSU back and got a single rail Corsair PSU. It has the amps I needed. Plus, it saved me some money. The only con is that it's not modular. I hate having cables I don't need.

It works like a charm too. For some reason, my video card was overheating due to improper power input. Now, I can run it at stock speeds and it runs pretty cool.

So yeah, I can play again. Woooo!

in addition...

I forgot that I completely didn't talk about this. Before I built my new computer, I bought a netbook specifically just for web browsing since I didn't want to turn on my computer just to check my email.

My netbook

It's surprisingly small. The resolution is fantastic, but the vertical scrolling takes a while to get used to as most webpages are header heavy. Some cons to this netbook are:

- Improper placement of the Right shift key. It should have been where the up arrow is.
- While it does have 160GB of HDD space, it's split into two partitions.

Other than that, it's been great. It's cheap, weighs very little, and gets the job done.

********

I was a bit displeased with my current computer case. It was adequate, but it didn't feel sufficient enough for the new videocard. So I drove out and bought this:

My new computer

It's the Cosmos 1000. It's freaking huge. As you can see, it barely fits under the desk. I didn't realize how big it was until I installed it. You see, it didn't look that big at Fry's. It's amazing how silent my computer is now. I can barely hear it.

********

I am pissed at myself. I didn't check the requirements of the GTX 285 since I bought everything on a whim. The PSU I bought is not enough for the videocard. On the 12V rail, it needs a minimum of 40a. The PSU I bought was split into four rails dividing up the amperage. This is not cool. Just a lesson learned I guess. I'm going to try to return it even after I used it for a week. I don't care if I need to pay a restocking fee, I need a single rail version.

another swing and a miss

So another failed chance to go to the Philippines, lol. I could have gone during my last year in college, but I didn't. I had the means to go recently for my grandma's funeral (rest her soul), but I didn't. I would give up $1,600 to go, but dang, you have to think. $1,600 is A LOT of money. If I were to spend that much money on a trip, I better stay in that destination for at least a month. Two or three weeks isn't going to cut it.

So instead, I'm with my dad again. For a while and for the upcoming week, I was with my dad/mom's friends, Tito Nick and Tita Cora. It was good, but it wasn't entirely depressing. But for a week, I'm with my dad, and it gets pretty boring without Daniel bothering me about how much I play video games and/or slowing taking a nap on my bed. To stave off boredom, I purchased a couple things:

- a crapload of games

  • Wanted: Weapons of Fate
  • Stormrise
  • Harry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure
  • Retro Game Challenge
  • Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3
  • Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars
  • Resistance Retribution
  • Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures
  • Rhythm Heaven
  • Star Ocean: The Last Hope
  • Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena

- season 12 of South Park on Blu-ray

- new PC guts

  • intel i7 core 920
  • 4GB DDR3 RAM
  • Asus motherboard with 3-way SLI capability/ Crossfire support
  • eVGA GTX 285
  • new power supply with modular support
  • and probably a new case since that dang video card is HUGE

I went a bit overboard with the computer specs. I was only supposed to buy a new power supply since the fan on my old was getting noisy. But since I got my refund back (the most money I have ever had in my life), I had to splurge. It's money that was already taxed by the government, and it was just held by them.

So yeah, no more spending for me, lol. I'm officially done with buying stuff for a long while.

***************

The PS3 firmware was updated. What's good now? They updated the divx support. Now probably everything will work now. Ong Bak 2 didn't work before, but now it does. Hooray.

street fighter iv

Well, this journal didn't get off to a good start. I'll never erase it even with my brother's requests. It's how the year started, so that's that.

Let's start on a new foot. This link pretty much describes my feelings on Street Fighter IV.

hurl

I'm 400lbs. I masturbate all the time. I categorize my porn collection. I used to own a fleshlight. Did I mention I like to masturbate? Well I do.

My name is Daniel Tayag. I'm the brother of Christian Tayag who I think is a faggot because he hasn't had a girlfriend yet. It's not because he's socially underdeveloped. It's only because he is gay because I know. It doesn't seem he is interested in men, but I know he's gay. I know because I know. I'm a huge bastard who enjoys jacking off because I know I can't take the time to lose weight. This makes no sense, but hey I like to masturbate.

Let me cum on your face.

Fuck chicken, fuck steak, fuck money, fuck the new year, and fuck you.
