My second, but truly first, weekend here. It's actually quite relaxing. I only have a couple of assignments and a couple of movies to watch.
I stayed at Lawson's place for around 5 hours. And all I was doing was testing out his system with a couple more games. I finally figured out how to get Chronicles of Riddick to work even though it took me an hour to find out. That game looks incredible. I was having so much fun just punching the crap out of people. There is this weird problem with his video card though. It does not display directshow video correctly. It has this horrible quality to it. Anyways, it doesn't matter since he streams the videos to his laptop.
I beat Halo 2 earlier today. I wasn't addicted to this game, but I really did want to finish it before the weekend ends. Bottom line: Halo 2 is fucking boring. I don't understand what the fuss was about. The single player campaign is just too stretched out and just plain boring. Sure the multiplayer is great (and probably what they only worked on), but goddamn, the campaign just sucks. Even the graphics are a hit or miss. Sometimes I would see absolutely fantastic visuals, then in certain levels I would see repeating textures and for some gooddamn reason, spawning enemies. I hate the lod graphical issues. Sure the game loads pretty quickly, but shit that is what the ram is for. For example, if the game renders an object far away, it decreased the texture and polygonal quality. But as the game closes in on the object, the quality gets better. However, in Halo 2, it appears mainly during the cutscenes where there are lots of spontaneous cuts. Production quality wasn't as good as I hoped.
Basically Halo 2 was just Halo. You rode vehicles, you killed aliens, blah blah blah. And omg, the ending. Talk about putting a cliffhanger. It was the most abrupt sequence I have ever seen anywhere. If this was a movie, it would definitely get zero stars.
