After all the hype, I was really disappointed with Sony's conference. Rather than show loads of gameplay from several titles, it was mostly just hi-def PS2 games. The only PS3 game that was played at the conference was Heavenly Sword. Yes, it was awesome, but it is only one game. They didn't have gameplay footage of MGS4 or the must hyped Killzone for the PS3. They did show FFXIII and MGS4 which were freaking impressive. I was shocked to see the real time footage of FFXIII. It is literally amazing. As for the controller, I don't see myself using that tilt function. It is a good thing it is mandatory to gameplay. I'm still getting a PS3. The question is, "When?"
I really enjoyed the Nintendo conference. They showed what Wii is capable of. Sure 90% of the games looked like Gamecube titles, but it looked really fun to use that controller. I still see this as a gimmick. Controlling a character in a FPS seems really painful and movement in all the games seemed a bit slow whether it was that Zelda game or tennis. The people who demoed the games had trouble moving around and controlling the characters felt stiff. Sure you can aim freely, but the movement is so robotic.
As for Microsoft's conference, I found it to be boring. They just showed sequels and their idea of Live anywhere. I'm not interested in Live anywhere since I don't have a good enough PC to play games on or the cell phone to do what they ask. Nothing interesting. Even the Halo 3 teaser was okay, nothing spectacular.
What Sony and Microsoft did wrong was that they didn't live up to their promises. Microsoft is still talking about their online plans and Sony is still showing a bunch of crap. In my opinion, Sony should have shown more gameplay footage and Microsoft should have shown more original content because sequels are not cutting it.
