one nite in mongkok

This is one great film. It starts off as a gang rivalry, then becomes a "get to know the hitman" plot, then the police side of things. It's a wonderful trio of sides. Daniel Wu plays the hitman who is supposed to kill the brother of a crime boss. But the thing is that he has never killed before. During his time in Mongkok, he meets a free-spirited hooker played by Cecilia Cheung.

As this is playing on, the police is trying to catch Wu because he is going to trigger a disaster. The operation is called "One Night in Mongkok."

The plot gets tense during the climax and even at the end. And did I mention how hot Cecilia Cheung is? Yup she is. She was hot in Running in Karma, and even hotter here.

The only thing that didn't fit was the last two scenes where the director put in these two statistics about Hong Kong and Mongkok. Hong Kong is named for its sweet scent and Mongkok is the most densely populated area in the world. I don't know why they put that in.

There is this awesome line in the movie.

"Despite the foul air, this place is still a paradise."

Guess what country I'm thinking about now. Yup. The wonderful place called the Philippines.
